Weekly News
Monday, May 4th, 2009Schedule
Regular schedule: Tuesday and Thursday at Live Oak at 4:20. Sunday Ride at 10am at the Campanile TEAM PHOTO on Thursday. Be on time and be there! If you have one of those snazzy specialized bikes from this year, please have it clean so we can put it in the photo.
Weather
Things don’t look great this week, so a reminder: If it is raining steady at the end of school, no practice. We will try to email the list as soon as we have a decision. If in doubt, come by my classroom or the team office at the end of school.
Race #5
Be on the lookout- I’ll be sending a ton of information about this one either today or tomorrow.
Bike check
Please, please, please either check out your bike, or schedule a tune up at Mikes before the race at Boggs. Boggs is in a remote location, and if you have a major problem, and we don’t happen to have the part, you will probably not be able to get it fixed. Schedule something now so you don’t have to worry about your bike that weekend.
Training tip: Glycogen
I’m going to send another link here. Some riders have asked me about “Carbo-loading” and glycogen and other forms of fuel in the body. An article in Cycling News has a nice explanation about glycogen, how it’s used and some myths and truths about how to prepare and train with carbohydrate fuel in mind. Much of the article is technical, and some of the training practices are for a level beyond where you are now, but it’s a good informative read.
